DECLARATION ON DARFOUR.

The Heads of State expressed their concern about the humanitarian situation in Darfur and the bordering regions as well as the repercussions of this situation on regional stability.

They welcomed the Central African, Sudanese and Chadian Presidents' signing, under the chairmanship of the African Union Chairman-in-Office John Agyekum Kufuor, of an agreement aiming at furthering the resumption of dialogue and the continuation of the reconciliation process in the region.

The Presidents of Gabon, Egypt and the Congo, along with the French Minister of Foreign Affairs and European Commissioner Louis Michel attended this meeting opened by the President of the French Republic.
