The Château Chapel in Rambouillet

Built in 1772 by the Duke of Penthièvre, the oratory has preserved an "optical illusion" painted caisson cupola. Subsequently arranged for the Empress Marie-Louise, it was restored under Louis XVIIIth. The "Ls" and the Lilies of the Valley painted on the pilasters date back to that time. On the altar are two Médicis Sèvres porcelain vases. Illuminated by a glided bronze choir lamp dating back to the Restauration period, the oratory harbors the remains of Mrs. Coty, who died in the château on 12 November 1955.
