President Musharraf,
I was greatly shocked to learn of the terrible attack on Sunday night against the friendship train, the Samjhauta Express, linking New Delhi and Lahore.
At this particularly painful moment, I extend to you, personally and on behalf of the French people, my deepest condolences and ask you to convey them to the bereaved.
France, committed with the international community to fighting terrorism, firmly condemns this unspeakable act. She salutes the Indian and Pakistani authorities' reaffirmed determination to pursue the process of dialogue and rapprochement between their two countries.
