Situation in the Middle East Communique issued by the Presidency of the Republic concerning the draft resolution demanding the full cessation of hostilities
Paris, 5 August 2006
An agreement has been found between the French and Americans on the draft resolution prepared by France to demand a full cessation of hostilities and work for a permanent ceasefire and long-term solution.
France's representative will present the text today to the United Nations Security Council in New York with the aim of achieving the widest agreement.
