President Kikwete,

Following your brilliant election as President of Tanzania, it gives me great pleasure to extend to you my warmest congratulations and wish you every success in your new high office.

The exemplary conduct of the election has again illustrated the strength and vitality of Tanzanian democracy. I am certain that, under your leadership, Tanzania will make new progress on the path of furthering her development and the stability of East Africa which she has been steadfastly following.

I very much hope that your election will contribute to strengthening the friendly, trustful partnership which has existed between our two countries. Rest assured of my determination to work with you to this end.
