Lounge of the Aides-de-Camp

Photo: Lounge of the Aides-de-CampThis salon serves as a setting for small official luncheons and dinners. Though restored and altered under the Second Empire, the salon's decoration has retained its appearance since the days of the Comte d'Evreux.

Elysée palace map The floor is adorned by a fragment of the very large carpet that used to lie on the floor of the Napoleon I's Throne Room in the Tuileries. Under the Restoration, the imperial eagle in the central medallion was replaced by Louis XVIII's cipher. However, the bees (the imperial emblem) remain in the four corners. The Louis XVI clock on the mantelpiece evokes the Arts and Sciences.
